The theme of the AIMS/VAIS/NYSAIS Children’s Literature Symposium is finding ideas and capturing inspiration for writing. We have assembled a group of authors of picture books, middle grade novels and graphic novels from wide-ranging backgrounds who write own-voice stories and mirror the diversity of their students. Debut authors have also been included as a way to promote new talent in historically under-represented backgrounds in the world of children’s literature.
